Days out

Africa alive: African animal adventure is located in kessingland just off the A12, Africa alive is a great day out for all the family. It houses a huge variety of animals with realistic enclosures. We always look forward to days out at africa alive and try to go a few times a year as its very close to us.

The price varies depending on the season but at the moment its about £11 per adult and £9 for 3-15yr olds, under 3's are free.

Its definately worth the price as its easy to spend the whole day walking around the site and sitting on the picnic benches while the children play on a great outside adventure play park, there is plenty of open space for the kids to run around and enjoy. We find the little train they have very handy to ride on, the kids love going on a mini train and as it takes you around the whole park at just the right speed to see all the animals without the kids moaning their feet hurt!

If you take a picnic and dont want to carry it around the whole time you are there, you can leave your food in the car and get your hand stamped when your ready to go and collect your it so you dont have any problems getting back in.

We have been in all weathers and always have a great day. http://www.africa-alive.co.uk/

London zoo: We were staying in London when we went here but you can get around the zoo in 3 hours so depending on how far away you live you could do this as a day trip.

Going to london was stressful with a 3yr old and i would advise you to take a pushchair as its a long walk to most places.

We got the tube and walked through Regents Park. It is about a mile long but is a beautiful walk. If you dont want to walk its about £5 for a taxi from the nearest tube station.

The zoo is £17 per adult and £11 for children over 3! under 3's are free.

I would advise you to take your own food and drink as the stuff at the zoo is expensive and fairly simple.

The best part of the zoo for us was the butterfly tunnel as you walk through it while they fly freely around you, great for kids.

We did enjoy ourselves but it wasnt the best day out we've had. http://www.zsl.org/zsl-london-zoo/
